Save the Date! Semiannual Shred and E-Waste Event March 15!

Feb 14, 2025

The Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 449 (Harris County MUD 449) Board of Directors would like to invite residents to participate in the semiannual shred and e-waste event!

Join us for a fun-filled community event where you can connect with your neighbors and meet some of our local heroes! Bring your family and friends for a special meet-and-greet with the Harris County Constable Precinct 5 officers, get to know the team that helps keep our community safe, and check out one of their patrol vehicles up close.

You'll also have the chance to meet the courageous firefighters from Waller-Harris Emergency Services District No. 200 (WH ESD 200)! Come say hello, learn about their lifesaving work, and even get an exciting, hands-on look at a real fire truck.

And what’s a community event without a sweet treat? Enjoy a free Kona Ice, perfect for cooling off on a warm day! The Kona Ice truck will be arriving at 10 AM, so don’t miss out!

We can’t wait to see you there for a morning of community spirit, fun, and appreciation for those who serve and protect us!

Document Shredding

A shred truck will be parked at the recreation center to receive up to 5 boxes of paper goods. Shredding documents is a secure way to discard important papers that are no longer needed while protecting yourself from identity theft. It’s also an excellent way to get rid of old school work, bringing in a fresh new school year for the kids.

SHREDDING TIPS:

  • Remove metal binders and binder clips before arriving (paper clips and staples are acceptable). No Wet Paper!
  • Please do not bring your paper in a plastic bag. This slows the process down as the bag must be ripped open and inspected before disposing of the paper. Please transport it loosely inside a box and the box will be returned to you.
  • There is no need to shred your used paper before dropping it off.
  • Due to safety concerns, we are unable to allow residents to park and watch documents shredded.
  • Sort your electronic waste before you load it into your vehicle to ensure it is separate from all paper.
  • Load your boxes of paper first, then load any electronic waste in your vehicle last. Electronic waste will be the first to be unloaded.

E-Waste Disposal

Electronic Recycling will provide a truck and the manpower to safely remove computer-related electronics from your vehicle.

Please Note: the following items will NOT be accepted:

  • Batteries
  • Floor copiers, printers, and multipurpose
  • Florescent tubes
  • Hazardous waste
  • CRT monitors
  • Items containing freon
  • Kitchen and bathroom appliances (including microwaves)
  • Light bulbs
  • Oils
  • Paints
  • Speakers
  • Televisions
  • Vacuum cleaners
  • Hard drives
  • CDs
  • Film Reels

We look forward to seeing you and your families join us for the Semiannual Shred Day! Please be prepared to get out of your vehicle to pass off your shred items and grab a free shaved ice from the Kona ice truck from 10am-12pm!
